چکیده
Abstract Background Diabetes, a global cause of mortality in developing countries is chronic disorder affecting the metabolism macromolecules and has been attributed to defective production action insulin characterized by persistent hyperglycemic properties. This harms organs body such as liver, kidney spleen. Medicinal plants Hunteria umbellate have shown possess hypoglycemic, antioxidative anti-diabetic properties owing high concentration active phytochemical constituents like flavonoids alkaloids. The present study seeks evaluate hypoglycemic activities ethanolic seed extract on streptozotocin-induced diabetes rats. Methods Thirty (30) female experimental rats were randomly divided into five groups with six per group administered streptozotocin (STZ) follows. Group 1 served control was given only distilled water, 2 60 mg/kg STZ; 3 STZ 100 metformin; 4 800 , 5 400 . fasting blood glucose level each rat measured before sacrifice. Rats then sacrificed 24 h after last dose treatment. Results results showed that significantly reversed STZ-induced increase weight decrease antioxidant enzyme spleen oxidative stress markers Conclusion Collectively, our provide convincing information inhibition regulation are major mechanisms through which protects against diabketes
